Named First Team All-America by AP, USBWA, NABC, The Sporting News and others. Moved into first place (passing Johnny Dawkins) on Duke’s all-time career scoring chart with 30 points vs. Miami (2/19). Posted career-highs with 41 points, 13 field goals and a Duke single-game record tying nine three-pointers in victory over Texas.
Junior (2004-05): Rupp National Player of the Year and ACC Player of the Year. Named First Team All-America by AP, USBWA, NABC, The Sporting News and others. Named ACC Tournament MVP after averaging 25.3 points and 2.7 assists in three games. Led the ACC in scoring (21.8 ppg), free throw percentage (.938), minutes played (37.3) and three-point field goals per game (3.7). Led Duke and ranked ninth in ACC with .403 three-point percentage.
Sophomore (2003-04): All-ACC First team. Led Blue Devils in scoring (15.9 ppg, 3rd in ACC) and three-point field goals made (102). Led ACC and ranked second in the nation in free throw percentage (.953). Also ranked third in ACC in three-pointers per game (2.76) and fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.395). Set ACC record with 54 consecutive free throws made from 3/20/03-1/15/04. Only the fifth sophomore in school history and 22nd in ACC history to reach 1,000 career points. Reached double figures in 32 of 37 games.
Freshman (2002-03): All-ACC Third team and All-ACC Freshman Team selection. His 15.0 scoring average was fourth-highest by a Duke freshman. Led team in free throw percentage (.919, 5th in NCAA), and three-pointers made (95) and attempted (238).
Strengths: Pure shooter with incredible range. Textbook form with a quick release. Virtually automatic at the free throw line. A competitor who accepts challenges. Has improved his mid-range game.
